Hello and welcome to the website for the My New Kentucky Smart Home project! My New Kentucky Smart Home is a program established is 2019 with support from the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. The goal is to promote independence and increase technology usage for Kentuckians with paralyzing conditions through loans of smart devices. During the grant period, the program is open to any Kentuckian with a paralyzing condition. The loans include a basic starter kit which includes the recipient's choice of a Google Nest Mini or Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker, a Sesame smart deadbolt that is installed over the existing deadbolt, a Ring 2 video doorbell, TP-Link smart plugs, and Sengled LED WiFi light bulbs. There is also additional equipment available to expand the system. This website is designed to provide training resources to help our loan recipients learn how to set up and use this equipment.

The loan program is designed to give the recipient a real feel for how easy these systems are to set up and to allow them to evaluate the types of equipment they might want to purchase on their own. Please feel free to browse our materials. You can tap the menu in the upper left corner of this page to navigate. There is also a link there to apply to the program if you are interested. All that you need is a home WiFi connection and a smart device like a smartphone or tablet. We'll help you through the rest, step by step.

Please note that while we have purchased specific brands or items for the project, this should not be seen as an endorsement of those products or an implication that they are the best product on the market. Make sure to research other brands and options before making a purchase.
